It’s the environment you love the most. A place full of happy memories. With live-in care, you can stay there. Close to family and friends, keeping any pets, and maintaining local community links – which all promotes greater independence and wellbeing.
Your day-to-day life can stay much the same. If anything, it will improve thanks to the extra support of a live-in carer. It also means avoiding the upset and worry that moving somewhere unfamiliar can cause.
Your carer will help as much or as little as you like, or as needed. After all, one size does not fit all when it comes to care. That’s why the care you receive will be tailored to you.
Whether it’s sharing meals, watching a particular TV programme or enjoying days out, live-in care is a one-to-one relationship based around your individual needs. This constant companionship also helps you to keep the same routines and hobbies, something that’s very important to many people.
Maintaining the familiar patterns of your life is one of the great benefits of live-in care. While a residential care home may have restricted visiting hours, with live-in care, your loved ones are free to come and go as you please
Many carers become more like friends. The level of support, understanding and companionship they provide is far beyond that of a residential care home. With your carer on hand 24 hours a day, they can ensure you are completely happy and feel safe and at ease.

There are two types of live-in care providers.
Many are introductory agencies that focus solely on matching you with a live-in carer. Once you’ve found someone you’re happy with, you will need to manage that person yourself, involving paying him or her directly, dealing with any grievances or pay disputes, and arranging cover when they need a break, are unwell or decide to terminate their contract.
With a fully managed service, all of these things are taken care of for you. It means you can focus your time and energy on the important things, like being a family. Once you’ve handpicked your carer, the carer’s salary, appraisals and any extra training are all managed for you. With regular reviews of your carer and the support you’re receiving, your care plan can be amended as required. And, with an established provider, an agreed relief carer will cover the carer’s holidays and any other time off.
What’s more, a fully managed service is checked and regulated by the care industry’s regulators, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).
